There is time until 11 February 2018 to see the works of theArcimboldo on display at Barberini Palace. The collection of works by the famous artist, Giuseppe Arcimboldi, was collected from museums and collections around the world: Basel, Denver, Houston, Munich, Stockholm, Vienna, Como, Cremona, Florence, Genoa, Milan. The exhibitions dedicated to this artist are rare not only for Rome. This is indeed an exceptional occasion because it is really difficult to get the loans of his works.
The father's workshop, among the followers of Leonardo Da Vinci, was the training venue of the artist. Not only a painter but also a poet and philosopher, who became famous for the famous ones "Compound heads" of fruits and flowers.
Arcimboldo gained the noble title of Conte Palatino, thanks to his appreciation in the Habsburg courts of Vienna and Prague. His art was rediscovered in the 1930s and was defined as the most important forerunner of Dadaism and Surrealism.
The public of the museum will find themselves in front of a hundred works including the most famous masterpieces of Arcimboldo - from the Seasons to the Elements, from the Jurist to Priapo (Ortolano) to Cuoco - portraits, the Como tapestry and the stained glass windows of the Duomo of Milan , his very precious watercolored drawings for court parties, in dialogue with Arcimboldesque paintings and copies, as well as a series of objects from the famous imperial Wunderkammern, from the numismatic workshops and applied arts, Milanese and not, up to drawings of herbaria, fruit , animals, of which at that time great study was done in order to increase greenhouses, menageries and gardens but, also and above all, scientific knowledge.
